Cate Farm is family owned and operated, and has been organic since it was started in 1981. They are located in the fertile valley of the Winooski River, on land that has been farmed since 1793. The farm has seven greenhouses to grow bedding plants and in ground crops such as tomatoes. All the greenhouses are heated with 100% farm –made biodiesel, made from used fryer oil. In addition, biodiesel powers their two large tractors.

Littlewood Farm is an experiment in community scale agriculture. Most of their production is marketed locally to area food coops. They practice sustainable agriculture and are pioneers in organic strawberry production. Every season this farm offers an internship program and many of these interns have gone to start their own organic farms.
